Lemon, honey and olive oil
A small glass in the morning is not a cleanse. It is a habit that replaces a carton of juice, which is sugar and volume before 08:00. Warm water, lemon, a teaspoon of honey if you want it, a teaspoon of extra-virgin olive oil.
You need
- 150–180 ml warm water (not boiling)
- Juice of half a lemon
- 1 teaspoon honey (optional)
- 1 teaspoon extra-virgin olive oil
Method
- Stir lemon into the warm water. Add honey if you use it, then the oil. Drink soon; it does not improve in a flask.
- This is not breakfast. Eat the eggs or whatever you already eat. Do not “fast” on this glass if you feel light-headed.
- Count it as fluid in the morning budget — the 80% by 17:00 starts here.
Notes
If lemon bothers your stomach or enamel, skip it. If you have gallbladder issues, ask a clinician before daily oil sips. This is food, not a protocol.
Afternoon is for Herbal Blend. Evening is ordinary caffeine-free rooibos from the kitchen if you still want a mug — still fluid, still two to three hours before bed if nights are loud.
What this glass is not
It is not a liver flush, a “cleanse”, or a substitute for breakfast. 150–180 ml is a sip. If you feel better after a week, you probably replaced juice. If you feel worse — stomach burn, loose stool — stop. People with reflux often do better with plain warm water and the eggs recipe instead.
Why a small glass in the morning, and why not a litre
Boxed juice before 08:00 is sugar and volume. This glass is 150–180 ml of warm water, lemon, optional honey, a teaspoon of extra-virgin olive oil. It is a sip. It starts the day’s 80% of fluids. It is not a cleanse, a liver flush, a fast, or a substitute for eggs. If you feel better after a week, you probably replaced juice. If you feel worse — stomach burn, loose stool — stop.
People with reflux often do better with plain warm water and the eggs recipe. Lemon on enamel every morning is a dentist conversation if you already have sensitive teeth. Drink it, then water, do not swish. If you have gallbladder issues, ask a clinician before daily oil sips. This is food, not a protocol.
How it sits in the day’s clock
Morning: this sip, then breakfast. Water with the plate. Coffee if you want it, last cup still by 15:00. Afternoon: Herbal Blend if you are replacing a third coffee — it has green tea. Evening: ordinary caffeine-free rooibos if you still want a mug, still two to three hours before bed if nights are loud. Do not repeat the lemon-oil glass at 21:00 as a “night ritual”. Oil plus acid plus volume at night is a different experiment and not a better 02:00.
Heat: this is still a small glass. Do not scale it into a bottle you carry. The day’s water lives in the bottle on the desk, not in more lemon.
Shopping and the teaspoon that actually is a teaspoon
Extra-virgin olive oil you would put on tomatoes is the oil. A dessert spoon is not a teaspoon. Honey is optional and is still sugar; skip it if you already drink sweet tea. Lemon is half a fruit, not a bottle of cordial. Cordial is juice with a costume.
Prepare it and drink it. It does not improve in a flask, and oil in a travel mug is a mess you will not repeat. If mornings are a car, drink water with breakfast at home and skip this recipe rather than invent a dashboard cleanse.
What videos claim, and what this page will not
No melted belly overnight. No fourteen kilograms. No gallbladder “flush”. No prostate treatment. The honest job of this glass is to replace a carton and to put a little oil in a meal pattern that already likes olive oil on vegetables. If a headline promised otherwise, it was a headline. Pair this with eggs and seeds so you actually eat. Pair with everyday food for the rest of the plate.
Children should not be given this as a trick. If you take medicines that already have food rules, ask a pharmacist. Stop if it hurts. The shop sells an afternoon blend, not this glass. This glass is a kitchen idea.
A fortnight without turning it into a religion
Fourteen mornings: sip, breakfast, notes on night trips if that is why you are here. If nights change, it is probably the juice you stopped, the water you started counting, or the coffee you moved — not a miracle oil. If nights do not change, you still replaced a carton. Keep the sip or drop it. The clock on evening habits does more than a teaspoon.
